The Isiolo County government’s Sh5.2 billion Supplementary budget for financial year 2021/22 could be tabled at the County Assembly today (Thursday May 27), two weeks after MCAs unanimously boycotted May 11 sitting to deliberate it.
Earlier, 17 MCAs failed to show up for the session on claims that they were being coerced to pass the budget without adequately scrutinizing the document which they wanted amended to capture residents needs.
The MCAs were concerned over unfair allocation of money for paying pending bills, claiming that the current ones that had accumulated during Governor Mohamed Kuti ongoing tenure had not been captured.
They maintained that they could only pass the document if their concerns are factored; saying suppliers had to be paid for effective service delivery in the devolved unit.
Reports indicate that Governor Kuti has been holding a series of meetings with a section of the MCAs in Isiolo and Nairobi with a view of settling the stalemate.
