Mandera Governor Ali Roba on Tuesday reshuffled his cabinet in a move aimed at improving service delivery as well as strengthen the focus on his legacy projects with only less than 480 days in office.
In a notice on Tuesday, the Governor re-assigned six Executive Committee Members while three were left in the substantive positions.
Those who were moved include Ahmed Sheikh Mohamed who has been moved to Roads, Public Works and Transport from his earlier position docket of Public Service, Conflict Management, Cohesion, Integration and Devolved Units.
Rahma Abdow Abdirahman is the new CEC of Trade, Investment, Industrialization and Cooperative Development.
She previously held the Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock and Fisheries docket which has been handed to Adan Dagane Hamud.
Mr Dagane previously held Rahma’s current docket.
Nadifa Ahmed Mohamed has moved to Education, Sports and Culture from Gender, Social Services and Youth Affairs.
Issadin Adawa Edow takes over from Nadifa in the Gender, Social Services and Youth Affairs.
Finance and Economic planning will now be headed by Sulekha Harun Hulbale who was in charge of Roads, Public Works and Transport.
Dr. Mohamud Adan Mohamed (Ministry of Health Services), Mr. Adan Hussein Hassan – (Ministry of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning) and Mr. Mohamed Ali Omar (Ministry of Water, Energy, Environment and Natural Resource) retain their dockets.
The Governor further appointed Mr Ahmed Sheikh Mohamed as the acting County Executive Committee member for the ministry of Public Service, Conflict Management, Cohesion, Integration and Devolved Units until substantive CECM for the Ministry is appointed.
The Governor also reassigned County Chief Officers in the six Ministry he reshuffled its CECs.
Maryam Dahir has been moved from Irrigation to Livestock and Fisheries while Hussein Yussuf Sheikh has been moved from Governance, Civic Eduaction and Public Participation to Conflict Management Cohesion and Integration.
Others include Mohamed Harun Musdaf who was moved from Conflict Management Cohesion and Integration to Youth Affairs While Adawa Haji Adan who was the CCO at Public Works was moved to Agriculture and Irrigation.
Zeitun Abdishakur Abdikarim has been moved from Youth Affairs to Governance, Civil Education and Public Participation While Shamsi Mohamud Sheikh has been moved from Livestock and Fisheries to Public Works
Fourteen County Chief Officers been retained at the substantive positions
The last time the Governor reshuffled his cabinet was last year in February when he fired three of his CECs and chief officer in a bid to restructure his government.
He terminated the services of Trade and Industrialization executive Abdiaziz Sheikh Maad, his Agriculture Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation counterpart Johora Abdi and Gender and Social Services colleague Shamsa Mohammed.
The chief officer for Health Services, Hassan Mohamed Ahmed, was also sent packing.
