Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been arraigned and charged with various offenses at Kiambu Court.
This is after the embattled former County chief spent night at the Muthaiga Police station.
Sonko is reported to have been picked up from Muthaiga Police Station cells where he spent the night and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters for further grilling.
On Monday, Sonko spent more six hours being grilled by the detectives over his conduct during which he was questioned about seven robberies with violence cases and five more that include assault.
The cases are said to have happened in the past years and the alleged violence claimed to have happened in Buruburu, Nairobi in 2019.
Investigators are seeking more time to hold him for further grilling over claims on the 2017 election chaos and other cases.
Following investigations then, the DCI recommended Sonko be prosecuted over the events that unfolded following a visit to the children’s school by Sonko and several of his associates.
Monday, detectives questioned Sonko over his public utterances on the 2017 election violence.
But Sonko declined to record his statement saying he had been gagged by a court.
Sonko had planned to decline to record his statement because of an order that was last week issued by a court barring him from uttering any defamatory words against Interior PS Dr Karanja Kibicho in relation to land grabbing claims.
