Police in Samburu have arrested three suspects transporting elephant tusks believed to be worth more than Sh1 Million.
The three were nabbed at Barsaloi when the sleuths were acting on a tip-off from members of the public.
Police reports indicate that the three were traveling in a private car to an unknown destination.
The trophies that weighed more than 10 Kilograms were cut into small pieces, and are suspected to have been removed from two elephants.
Samburu Central Police Boss Alex Rotich said that police officers will continue keeping an eye on Barsaloi-Mararal road that has become famous for transportation of illegal items for a long time.
The three are being held up at Mararal police station awaiting arraignment.
