A joint operation by officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and police officers on Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of Ms Galmo Mohamed who was carrying weapons in her handbag.
In a police report seen by The Frontier post, the 24-year-old woman was travelling from Moyale to Marsabit in a Matatu of registration number KCE 576S of Nanyuki Sacco which was being driven by Mr Qalicha Godana.
Officers stopped the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and demanded to see what was inside the lady’s bag. It is then that they found three hand grenades and teargas canisters.
“It remains unclear where she was headed to but all we have established is that she was on her way from Moyale to Marsabit,” the report read in part.
This led the police to arrest the driver and the lady- escorting her to Sololo Police Station.
At the station, officers demanded to check Ms Galgallo’s phone and they found videos linked to terrorism activities.
It remains unclear where she had gotten the weapons from.
This comes just a month after five individuals who include a Ward Representative were arrested for arming clashing communities in the county.
